SHAME THE DEVIL

Y'all catching the TV commercial about getting heating oil at a 40 percent discount? It's sponsored by Citco Oil of Venezuela and fronted by former Democratic Senator Joe Kennedy. It's aimed at those who cannot afford to heat their homes.
But some in the Repiglican party have begun a whispering comapign aimed at attaching a stigma to enrolling in this privately funded program. They say that this is an attempt to shame the president by having a foreign nation do what the Bush Administration either cannot or will not do-provide heat for the less fortunate. The unspoken implication here is that no real American should accept charity if it embarasses the administration.
But the president and everyone in congress don't have to make a choice between being warm, having enought to eat or getting medical care this winter. And you can bet the mortgage on that.
Moreover, given his performance thus far, I seriously doubt George Bush will even catch on to the fact that he should be ashamed. I mean, he's six years in and still hasn't caught on. So what makes them think he'll grasp this concept?

So you're against the Civil Rights Act.... and you think Castro should have been allowed to keep nukes in Cuba, and you're against VISTA and the Peace Corps? Is that right?

Yawn,
Debating 101.
I have a lady that works for me that is a Venesualian national that will never, ever move back Venesuala.
She laid on the ground for over an hour next to one of her dead friends during a protest when Hugo Chaves was running for President the first time around. The Military just opened fire on thousands of them.
She says half her country is starving, the oil revenues are not going anywhere except into his pocket.
You can support this guy if you want. I won't.
And you can save your cute little comebacks, this point is not open for debate, and it shouldn't be with you either. Some things go beyond whether you like GWB or not!

RR,
I support the idea of people in this country being warms and health and fed and having equal access to education, justice and healthcare. If that means someone like Chavez steps forward to provide services that our own leaders cannot or will not provide, I'm okay with that.
And if Chavez is the despot you claim he is, then why is your fearless leader supporting him by purchasing oil?

so what you are saying is that Way back when we were young and had all the knowledge you supported our government and thier actions when the National Guard shot and killed the students at Kent State. You have an amazing double set of standards!

If you're talking to me, please quote where you think I said or even implied that.

"... was all for getting the nukes --AND Castro-- out of Cuba, too bad the Kennedy's didn't oust Fidel."
Hell, the USA had just installed him to oust Batista.... they we're going to do that.

VISTA - Volunteers In Service To America - was similar to Peace Corps, but operated in this country.
As far as the Peace Corps providing intel for the CIA... that was, and is, AID -Agency for International Development
