UP 16, 37 TO GO

Alright all you right-wing mo-fos, the word gets put down this morning... That's when the Worcester County Board of Election counts the last 37 votes and name the newly elected State's Attorney. Given the present lead and the closeness of the race thus far, I'm thinking Joel is going to retain his office. But either way, I don't really expect the contest to end after the count is done. I'm looking for whoever comes out on the short end to demand a recount, and if that's going to happen, it has to happen by the close of business next Wednesday... so says the lady at he election board. Personally, I hope Joel keeps the office... not just because he's has more experience and already has a team in place, but because I listened to the candidates carefully before the election and I know that Beau Oglesby took a few liberties with the facts in his campaign literature... He didn't exactly lie when he and his flunkies said Todd's conviction stats were bolstered by plea bargains. But his clear implication was that he would not allow plea bargains.... But the fact is that he will not only allow them, he'll offer them up to defendants, himself. That's not a lie, or conjecture, or hyperbole. It's a fact, because that's how the criminal justice system works. As a matter of fact, if Oglesby has as much litigation experience as he wants voters to believe he has, then he has already been a willing part of many, many plea bargains. And the fact that he didn't tell that to voters makes me question his honesty.
And on the outside chance that Oglesby really will do away with plea bargaining, here's what will happen: Conviction rates will go into the basement, because plea bargains serve to punish criminals when prosecutors have marginal cases. Also, more cases will be dismissed because the state either cannot prove it's original case or defendants have been denied the right to a speedy trial, because every case is going to a jury and there's a backlog.
Oglesby is a blowhard.... I mean, that's to be expected from someone who fancies himself a politician, but this gig is not just about politics. It's also about justice and honesty. And from what I saw during the campaign, he's not fit to represent the interests of the public.

Not for nothing Rat but you have to show more respect for a man who comes from Wicomico County and steps into a Worcester County race and gets the votes that he did.

The results are what they are and the fact that the numbers are as close as they are means that Worcester County is NOT pleased with who is in that office, period.

Mr. Todd is walking on eggshells.

That's one way to look at it, Joe. Another way would be that the Repiglicans turned out to vote the ticket in a desperate and largely failed attempt to bolster a party who leaders have proven to be politically and morally bankrupt.

You people are unbelievable!

Let me start with this. If you know Worcester County at all, (and I do) you'd know these people are VERY set in their ways. Change doesn't come very easily.

The fact that Oglesby has come anywhere even close to Todd speakes volumes like there's no tomorrow.

Do the blame game all you want, you're very wrong here. Of course this is why I have my own Blog Site as I have a different opinion on the matter.

Joel Todd had never tried a murder case before he became States Attorney, so please do shut up. Everyone will grow with their position in time, just like Mike Lewis will in his new roll, just like Hunter Nelms did before him.

Well, Joe, I've only been here for 12 years, but there are a few things thant even I can tell you about this county. The first thing is that this is not the Worcester County of ten years ago; it is no longer just about crotchety, cranky, retirees who fear change. They are not the generation of the Second World War, not the generation that thought the government knows what's best for everyone, and that everyone should keep quiet and let things be. The retirees coming now are the cusp of the boomers. They are smarter, better educated and they changed American culture at its very foundations. They are the Civil Rights generation, the anti-war generation, the Woodstock generation. They are the Question Authority generation.
A few distrust the government and those in authority. They are more liberal than the locals they are numerically displacing, and over the next 10 years or so, this demographic will get bigger and more politically liberal.
That said, I don't think you can predict this population's political behavior by its traditions. Things are changing too quickly, now. You have to look at the incoming population demographics and draw your predictions from there.

Rat,

I firmly agree with that fact. However, my POINT is that the numbers are far too close to make it sound as if it was negative campaigning.

Worcester County has already proven they're NOT satisfied with the results in that County. Open your eyes and please quit blaming it on negative campaigning.

I'm not at all saying Joel Todd isn't a "good man." I'm simply trying to open your eyes to the fact that they're obviously asking for a change. The numbers prove that.

Do also note that I am not trying to bash anyone and or support anyone. Blogs are all about healthy open forums and debate. Censorship hurts that and this sometimes bothers me about this particular Blog but it's your rules and I respect that, somewhat.

urnotaclever1,

I don't have the time to waste on looking up your claim. However, do try to retain my point, respectfully.

The only thing I censor is personal attacks. But if you think that my dissection and destruction of others' socio-political perspective is censorship, well there's nothing I can do about that. ... I try to encourage open and academic discussions... all I ask is that you defend be able to defend your position. ... If you can't do that, it means to me that the writer hasn't really done any analytical thinking of this position.... Please take no umbrage. This is not personal.

Holy Gawd, man, I read your post before it was spiked.... just a couple of points: First, you're allowed to say "pussy" on this blog. It's a nice word. I like it. Second, thank-you for spiking the post before I had to. Third, Not Clever is not Rat, so don't confuse us. And finally, I believe you are correct when say Not Clever is not a man. That said, it would be incorrect to say she is a pussy... she may have one, but that's very different from being one.... you understand, I'm sure.
Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.

Not Clever:
Please do not call names here unless you can and will back up your allegations. We may disagree with Joe, but I can't find anything in his posts, or blog, that indicates he's a liar.
Please maintain your sense of composure.

I pulled that comment because it was un-cool. I get frustrated whenever someone takes the point and starts twisting it to make others look bad.

Thanks for understanding and thanks for the support. I have no interest in lying, it's a waste of everyone's time, especially mine.

Besides, think of all the people that would love to come after me financially if I did or had. That's one of the reasons you can trust so much of what is posted on my Blog. I have a LOT more to lose than anyone else. That includes The Daily Times.

Thank you for that clarification, NC. Glad to see you've regained your sparkling niceness.

uninatelevel1,

You have yet to prove you are right, first of all. Seems to me, you have the burdon of proof here.

I am not a Oglesby supporter not a Todd supporter, yet I do know the two of them personally.

I'll not leave or remove myself from this Blog Site unless asked by the owner of this Blog.

Again, in my eyes only a pussy uses ficticous names and real men post their real names, no offense Rat. LOL

None take.... Ratturinthecake is my real name.... my mom hated me.

Urinatelevel1,

Since you seem to know Joel Todd so well, why don't you ask him who was the purchaser of the Todd Industrial Park in Bishopville? Mr. Joel Todd held the $30,000.00 deposit himself when I was wanting to purchase that entire Park. Don't tell me I don't know this man! I have dealt with Joel and his family personally. I knew you were full of shit right from the very beginning.

As for your opinion of my being angry, take a good look around you in Salisbury. There's so much illegal activity going on it isn't funny. There's no doubt at times I'm angry. However, I'm not an out of control angry person. I have a Blog Site that exposes these wrongs and if you want to call it angry, so be it.

Folks, the big difference here when it comes to people like Urinatelevel1 is, I'm doing something about it and the powers to be in the City/County simply can't hurt me. They can't hurt my business with threats. They can't touch me financially whenever I prove something is wrong and they simply have all this anger against me because they can't do anything about it.

Hence messages like you're reading because this person makes remarks using false made up names. No one is asking YOU to read my Blog, yet you go there daily and read what's going on. You may not like it but you sure can't do anything about it either and that kills you inside Urinatelevel1.

If the Todd thing about murder cases is so important to you, pull it up and prove it. If it excites you so much to be right, show everyone I'm wrong. In the mean time, lighten up and get a backbone.

Oh, maybe if you weren't atacking people and making up lies you would use your real name and not be afraid of such.

okay... I'm gonna start spanking people and sending then to bed without dinner.... Joe, go home until you can engage in discourse without personal attacks.... Not Clever; you're right, this is a pissing contest and if you can't do it civily (there's irony in here somewhere) then stop pissing.

Ah.... when I was a youngster, I had a best friend named Bobby Todd... we met in a foster home....he was a motorhead, a road jock, and had a habit of GTA.... probably not the same guy, though.

RAT said...

... as to using a paddle for spanking... it depends.... if she's cute and well rounded, I wouldn't use a paddle.... I'd miss the chance to cop a free feel.... "must be jelly, cause jam don't shake like that."

joe albero said...

Look Tricky Dick,

Bobby Todd didn't develop that Industrial Park. He sold it! He had one building at the entrance of the Park and sold the rest of the entire Park.

urinatelevel1 is completely full of shit when it comes to their knowing Joel Todd. It's completely made up.

End of pissing match

Mr. A

I think you will find that R.W. "Bobby" Todd did develop the industrial park.

Here I am using the word "develop" to mean that he conceived the idea, bought the land, had it platted, put in the roads [Hammer Drive is one of the roads-its name is derived from the hammer of a pile driver], dug the pond (and stocked it with fish), and did all of the other things that a "developer" does, then he sold off some of the lots, the rest were left to his estate.

I know you are a dog lover, I wish you could have met Henry, Bob's American Staffordshire.

joe albero said...

Mr. Galt,

Perhaps you know my old neighbor, Newt Cropper? He trained many of his dogs out that way.

As for your version of a developer I would have to agree with you. Mr. Todd did do all of those things and I regret to say I did not have the honor to meet the man. Obviously the apples didn't fal far from the tree when it comes to his children.

I remember that beautiful sailboat Joel's brother rebuilt and sailed. My God, that was a beautiful sight! Great memories.

..... Wait!!!.... there's fish in that pond? .... what kind? ... I love fly-fishing.
