COPS KNOW WHAT TO KISS, AND WHEN

Delaware Rep. John Adkins got extra-special treatment two months ago when Ocean City cops stopped him for drunken driving, but let him call a friend to take him home. No charges, no trip to the jailhouse, and certainly no embarrassing questions from nosey-assed reporters..... until now.
But while Adkins may suffer some embarassment, it is the police officer who has some 'splainin' to do. Actually, according to yesterday's reports, there were two police officers at the scene- one a rookie, identified in the police report as Natalie Smolko and the other, her training officer, Douglas Smith. Seems Smith took it upon himself to promise Adkins he would not be arrested, even before any sobriety tests were issued. And after the breathalyzer tests were done, well, he blew a .14. That almost twice the benchmark of .08 for drunken driving in Maryland. And his wife blew even higher; .16.
So, we all know that a street cop has a lot of discretion in dealing with petty stuff. But can he let someone go on a drunken driving charge.... I mean, where they are clearly over the limit? And if so, how often do they do it, and why? Aren't drunk drivers one of the major causes of death on the nation's highways? Shouldn't there be some penalty that uniformly enforced? Well, of course there is. but it's only for the little people, the people without power.... not Republican lawmakers from another state. And so what, if that lawmaker was arrested later that same night and charged with domestic violence (don't you just love Family Values) on his equally drunken wife? That didn't happen on Officer Smith's beat. And speaking of being let off, maybe that's what needs to happen to officer Smith.... about 30 days off the job, without pay should be the minimum penalty. He was, after all, sworn to uphold the laws of the state and the city. The fact that he didn't do so, marks him as someone too afraid to do the job he swore to do. Maybe he needs some time to think about whether he's cut out for this line of work.

Point taken Dick.... geez you sound just like a cop... either your The Heat, or a groupie....sorry about the nonenclature: I'm not a cop nor do I play one on TV... That said, you'll note the even befor said test was administered, constable Smith promised drunken lawmaker he would not be arrested... Two points here: one is that suspected "flashed" his Delaware Lawmaker ID first thing, according to the report. So the cop new he was dealing with an elected official perhaps even before he knew whether the guy had an OL. That, all by itself, set up the power structure in the exchange. Secondly, the PBT would not have been requested if the officer did not suspect he was drunk or otherwise impaired. Heh?

Trickly Dick,

You are so far from the intent of that message.

The hope has always been that Mike Lewis would one day take over the Salisbury Police Department, since Webster can't seem to get control of the City.

He's early in his new career and in time one could only hope Mike would in fact take over. So there was never any intent to poke fun at Mike and or make it look as if anyone was failing.

It is amazing how easily one can twist the truth or intent of a message, somewhat like someone's name, eh?

Well Joe, you have been acting as if you want to have sex with Lewis.... your never-ending praise for him is too weird even for Rehoboth Beach.... on that point I have to agree with Dick.

You can be sure of one thing ratturd: Mike Lewis is desperately attemping to rid himself of Albero. He has told many that he must separate himself from this unpredictable #@! but Joe refuses to believe it. Poor Joe is being played and used like everyone else. It's just a matter of time before the truth is revealed.

You know something rat, that statement is a personal attack, one in which if we were standing man to man and you made that statement you'd find yourself on the floor knocked out and a huge black eye. Remember that, should we ever meet.

As for dontdrinkthepurplejuice, another new name, eh? This is too funny. Maybe one day I'll get over it. LMAO

Joe...First, your daddy should have taught you never to threaten someone, especially in print.....I wonder if your comment constitutes "terroristic threats" ... no matter, I'm a big boy and I can take care of myself.... and you need to clearly understand that, Sir, and think carefully about the consequences of your actions should we ever meet....as to your umbrage-taking over my comments about your unnatural affection for Lewis - well, I call it like I see it...and I think if you go back and look at your comments with an unbiased eye, you'll see it too.
Merry Christmas to you and yours, Joe

At last someone is commenting on Albero's unnatural infatuation with the "great saviour" of Wicomico County Mike Lewis. Mike may do a good job, that remains to be seen, but it's obvious that Albero has a crush on him.

"blogsturmfuhrer"... Ooooo.... I like that term.... I think Dick may have coined a new word.... let's define it... 'sturmfuhrer' was a S.S. staff officer of nazi storm troopers- who were a decidedly right-wing club.... is that right, Dick?.... by extension then, a blogsturmfuhrer would be a blogger who pimps such right-wing organizations.... what do you think Dick?

Dick.... and a very merry Christmas to you and Mrs. Richard and to all the german shepards watching their flocks by night.

You have to watch Carlos Mancia to understand. If you haven't seen his show, watch it and you'll understand instantly. Besides, you'll enjoy his humor.

hey Joe.... all I said was that your words make it seem like you want to have sex with Mike Lewis.... I have no reference to your sexuality, or lack thereof. Of course, that fact that you can't let this go is beginnig to make us all wonder if thou protest too much... know what I'm sayin' son? Now, this is the second threat of physical violence you've issued to me. And you've done it in front of a cop.... do you know who you're talking to? Are you so crazy that you can't tell right from wrong? I think maybe I'll just send this all to Davis Ruark and let him deal with it.... oh you already have an appointment coming up with him, don't you?

ratturd,

I pulled my message because I simply wanted "you" to get it, not others.

My point is made and may you and your Family have a wonderful Holiday Season.

too late Joe... as I'm sure you're aware, this blogger can be configured so that I receive email copies of coments when they are posted to the site.... you can pull your comments but you can't erase the emails.

joe albero said...

No sh*t Rat. I only pulled my messages because you're the only one that needs to see what I have said. You're welcome to put them back up, if you'd like? Nevertheless, I've made my point.

If I do that, KBA, there might be some argument in his defense if Ruark or even Worcester County's State's Attorney decides they want to make a case of it.

Rat,

You're starting to sound like one of those pansies that slips on the floor in WalMart after coming in fron the rain and sues them.

Grow a backbone and start acting like a man.

And a Merry Christmas to you and yours.

I stopped watching Carlos Mancia's show after the first time I saw it. I was tired of listening to him bash the United States of America.
